Peckish (“we”, “us”) helps you save restaurants from Instagram and view them on a personal map. This policy explains what we collect during the Melbourne closed beta and how we use it.
What we collect
- Account information — When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your account identifier and basic profile fields (such as name and email) from the identity provider via Supabase Auth.
- Saved restaurants — Names, addresses, map coordinates, cuisine, notes, visit status, and metadata extracted from Instagram posts you save.
- Instagram links — URLs you share or paste are sent to our parser service to extract restaurant details. We do not store your Instagram password.
- Location — If you allow it, we use your device location to show nearby saved spots and distance filters. Location is not shared publicly.
- Collections — List names and which restaurants belong to each list.
- Feedback — Optional messages you send from in-app Settings.
- Waitlist — Email and city if you join the marketing waitlist on peckisheats.app.
How we use data
- Provide the app: parsing links, mapping places, syncing your list across devices.
- Improve accuracy and reliability of restaurant extraction.
- Enforce fair-use limits on parsing (rate limits per account).
- Respond to support requests and beta feedback.
- Invite waitlist users to the beta when spots open.
Third-party services
We use trusted processors to run Peckish. Data may be processed by:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting (United States).
- Google — Sign-in, Maps, and Places APIs for map display and venue matching.
- Google Gemini — extracts restaurant names and details from Instagram post content.
- Vercel — hosts our parser API and marketing website.
- Expo / EAS — builds and distributes beta app binaries.
Sharing
Your saved restaurants and map are private to your account. We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the security of our users and services.
Retention
We keep your account data while you use Peckish. Parse cache entries expire after about seven days. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us.
Your choices
- Revoke location permission in your device settings at any time.
- Sign out of the app to end your session on that device.
- Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your data.
Children
Peckish is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy as the beta expands. We will post the new date at the top of this page.
